On the 7th March 2008, between 9.00 A.M and 2.00 P.M the
final year students (III B.S and III DHMCT) of Oriental
Institute of Catering Technology and Hotel Management,
Madurai, organized “GOLDEN DRAGON CHINESE FOOD FESTIVAL,” in
the premises of the Institute.
Our Institute feels proud to state that this is the only
institute in south India to celebrate a Food Festival with
Chinese food, and to invite the college students of other
states of South India to participate in this celebration. We
do appreciate their enthusiastic co-operation. All of them
associated with everyone so freely that they gave very
interested “Ex tempore” performances on the stage, when the
cultural programmes were conducted on the previous evening.
One of the students Mr.Sandeep.K Oxford College, Bangalore
impressed everyone with his break dance. Also, the
performance of Bharatha Nattiyam by Ms. Kokila, the student
of our Institute was so excellent that both Mr.Sandeep.K and
Ms. Kokila were honoured with the title Mr. Dragon and Ms.
Dragon of the festival.
On 7th March 2008, the day of the Golden Dragon Chinese Food
festival, all the dignitaries of leading hotels and Air line
Madurai, the parents of our students, operators and all the
well-wishers of our Institute participated in this festival
in response to the invitation extended by our students.
Shri. T.S. Anbu I.P.S., Superintendent of Police added a
colourful feather to this festival, by being the Chief Guest
of the festival.. Mr Arun and Ms. Kokila the final year
graduate dragons of our Institute performed a welcome dance
which made the audience spell – bound. After lighting the
holy lamp, Shri. J. Suresh (Director, OICTHM, Madurai)
welcomed the gathering. Shri. M. Germanus - Managing
Director of Hotel Germanus, and Shri. Dr. G. Vasudevan ,
Director of Fortune Pandian Hotel, were the guests of honour;
and this festival was felicitated by Shri. K. Muralidharan -
General Manager, GRT Residency, Shri. Arun Daniel - Station
Manager, Jet Airways, Shri. S. Senthilnathan - General
Manager, Hotel Germanus, and Shri. D.L. Viswanathan -
Managing Director, All India Travels.
After the address of the Chief Guest, certificates, prizes
and Mementos were distributed to all the participants. Group
photographs of all the participants were taken with the
dignitaries, to be sent to all the participants. So that
they can have a sweet memory.
After this, all of them enjoyed the Chinese taste, flavour,
aroma, colour and texture in about 60 chinese dishes. After
this grand lunch, the students of other colleges were taken
to sight seeing.Finally, with heavy heart, our students gave
farewell to them.
